Developments with Lifespan Respite on a State and Federal Level
The Lifespan Respite Care Act (S. 538) unanimously passed the Senate on April 10, 2003. Now attention turns to the House, which can take up the Senate bill for consideration, or proceed to consideration by the House Energy and Commerce Committee of the House Lifespan Respite Care Act (HR 1083). For additional information about Lifespan Respite legislation go to http://www.archrespite.org/NRC.htm.
RCCCWA and The Arc of King County have just received a challenge grant from the Paul Allen Foundation. We have one year to raise $25,000 and the Allen Foundation will match that amount with another $25,000! We have received a wonderful opportunity to further the work of developing a Lifespan Respite System in Washington State.
