Parenting Your Behaviorally Challenging Child
6-week Interactive Tele-Class series, begins January 21
Current class series: 6 Thursdays,
6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, January 21 - February 25, 2010
Phoning in from the comfort of their home, participants will learn how to guide children to avoid meltdowns, gain lacking skills and improve parent-child communication. If you've tried everything and nothing seems to work, this is the class for you. Results are often seen immediately upon implementation of the program, and successes continue to build indefinitely. Weekly email consultation is included to address individual concerns.
Many parents will find this course helpful, regardless of their child's diagnosis or even if their child has no diagnosis.
Course instructor, Sara Gardner, is the parent of a former "challenging" child, and has been a trainer for 25 years. She has received training from Dr. Ross Greene, author of "The Explosive Child" at his Center for Collaborative Problem Solving, and currently serves on the board of directors of the King County chapter of the Autism Society of WA. She has a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, and has worked extensively with families with loved ones on the autism spectrum.
These methods work best for children ages four and up who are able to communicate verbally.
If you have a question about your individual situation, please contact instructor at sesgardner@gmail.com. For further information or to register for the course, please visit www.AspergerSupport.com and see "Parenting Classes." Class size is limited, please register early.
Fee for six-week tele-class: $120 per person, includes class materials and weekly email consultation with instructor.
Former participant testimonial, quoted with permission: "This class was extremely helpful for dealing with my son's tantrums. I had previously taken a behavior management class with [another provider] that didn't help. Following the method that I learned in class my son has stopped kicking, biting, and scratching me. We have a much more positive and pleasurable relationship now. It was the fastest and most helpful therapy I've done with my son and I recommend it to all parents and teachers."
