The LEAP Project (Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Partnership) is a new project of the Arc of King County. To be most effective in the Self-Advocacy Movement, we need to prepare people with developmental disabilities to take on leadership roles.

The focus of the LEAP project is to work with a select few individuals— to truly give them the tools necessary to be leaders in whatever capacity fits their individual interests and passions.

What is this new project?

  • Monthly Saturday leadership workshops

  • Field trips that are both fun and educational

  • Experience planning and leading group activities

  • Get weekly guidance to set goals and meet leadership challenges

  • Learn about places or activities to be involved in

  • Leadership based on personal interests

What Is Required?

  • A two-year commitment

  • Support that would assist you in participating with the project

  • Enthusiasm to learn and experience new leadership opportunities and skills.
