Info:  Audacity Magazine is an online news and entertainment magazine geared toward the disability community in the United States and the world. In addition to covering issues related to disability, Audacity writes stories pertaining to topical issues not directly related to disability per se, those stories give writers and the disability community a chance to express their opinions.  Audacity Magazine's staff is made up entirely of people with varying disabilities.

Child Advocacy Central

Info:  The “Child Advocacy Central” internet project was developed by the University of Washington Child Advocacy Clinic and the Washington State Children’s Justice Interdisciplinary Task Force (CJITF). The latter is a statewide organization of individuals appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to improve child welfare practice in Washington. The Children’s Administration of DSHS funded the development of two one-stop shop child welfare websites. “Child Advocacy Central” educates lay people and practitioners, enabling them to advocate effectively on behalf of the children they work with. “Foster Youth Central” encourages adolescents in the foster care system to learn about the system designed to help them, allowing them to be better and more forceful advocates for themselves. This project was developed in collaboration with the Northwest Institute for Children and Families at the University of Washington School of Social Work.

Info:  e-Buddies is one of the six programs offered by Best Buddies. e-Buddies fulfills the mission of Best Buddies by facilitating e-mail friendships between children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their peers who do not have intellectual disabilities. Individuals are matched in e-mail friendships based on age, gender, geography, and similar interests. e-Buddies never matches individuals that reside in the same state. We ask members to e-mail each other at least once a week.
