Info: A non-profit organization providing civil legal assistance to low
income residents of East and Northeast King County: General Law, Family Law
& Domestic Violence Clinics, free representation by a volunteer attorney,
simple wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, also monthly workshops for individuals
who are seeking uncontested divorces and monthly lectures at
Senior and Community centers on estate planning and other legal issues.
Special program which serves ALL of King County: Domestic Violence Legal
Fund (DVLF) - upon referral from a variety of domestic violence agencies, ELAP
provides representation for those unable to hire a private attorney until
temporary orders are in place. Must call for office location.

Info: Provides information and referrals to individuals involved in
family law matters (divorce, legal separation, child support modification,
parenting plan establishment and modification, non-parental custody, motions,
temporary orders, restraining orders) who are not represented by attorneys.
Cases NOT eligible for assistance include: adoptions, juvenile dependency,
wills, evictions, traffic citations, guardianships, bankruptcy, probate, name
changes and criminal charges. The Facilitator Program
serves clients on a walk-in basis in the morning and by appointment only in the
afternoon at the King County Courthouse in Seattle and the Regional Justice
Center in Kent. Services are provided at no cost to users. Facilitators help
obtain necessary legal forms and instructions, understand court rules and
procedures, and access legal services, other court services and community
resources. Facilitators will not give legal advice, or help clients fill
out legal forms.

Info: Services include: general legal information and referral
(through Project Clear); represent victims of domestic violence in
protection order hearings where there are barriers to self-representation, such
as language or disability; special education; family law;
immigration; Native American issues; and public benefits (TANF, food
stamps, Medicaid denials, terminations and sanctions). Clients must
generally have income under 125% of the federal poverty guidelines and, in some
cases, may have income up to 175% or 187% of poverty depending on liabilities.
Limitations on assets also apply.

Info: The Seattle Community Law Center (SCLC) is a 501(C)(3) tax exempt,
non-profit organization that was founded in 1997 by two legal aid attorneys with
over twenty years of advocacy experience in King County. SCLC's primary
constituency is residents in King County living in poverty. Within this
population, SCLC seeks to work with people who further face barriers to access
including immigrants, people with disabilities, people of color and other
members of disadvantaged groups. SCLC is currently comprised of three existing
projects, the Social Security Advocacy Project, the Access Law Project, and the
Community Law Advocate Worker (LAW) Project.

Washington Protection and Advocacy System (WPAS) is a private, non-profit
organization that has been protecting the rights of people with disabilities in
the state of Washington since 1972. Every
state and territory of the United Sates has an organization like WPAS,
designated to provide independent protection and advocacy services to eligible
people with developmental and other disabilities and/or mental illness.
Services include: Information and Referral, Training and Publications, Legal Representation, System
Impact Litigation, Abuse or Neglect Intervention, System Impact Policy Initiatives.
