The Arc of King County is offering a new
Leadership Development Program for adults with developmental disabilities and  families of children with developmental disabilities.

What you will gain from attending:

• History of the disability movement
• In-depth knowledge of systems that support people with developmental disabilities and their families.
• Strategies to promote inclusion and valued participation of people with disabilities in the community.
• Effective legislative advocacy.
• Communication and facilitation skills.
• Valuable connections to people who
will be a resource for years to come.
• Understanding of other cultures.
• Opportunities to develop and foster. relationships with other advocates in King County.

Other benefits of attending:
• No registration fee.
• Stipends to offset respite/child care expenses,
   if needed.
• Meals during workshop sessions.
• Transportation and accommodations for the
   Legislative Advocacy Weekend in Olympia.
• Stipends to help start a community project.

Seattle workshops will take place from 5:30 pm-9 pm on Friday evenings & on Saturday from 9 am-3 pm, with the exception of the May 31st session which will be a single half day session on Saturday  only. Sessions will take place at The Arc of King County, 233 Sixth Avenue North in Seattle.

The Legislative Weekend in Olympia will begin on Friday morning, November 30th and end on Sunday afternoon, December 2nd, inclusive of travel to and from Olympia.
